The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
