The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
