The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
