The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
