Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 He said, “Not like this (any more); both of you go with Our signs, We are with you, All Hearing.” 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.' 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
