The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
