The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
