The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
