Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
