A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 [Say (O Muhammad SAW) to these idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Quran and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah), and follow not any Auliya' (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allah), besides Him (Allah). Little do you remember! 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 Then We will surely question those to whom were the messengers sent, and We will surely question the sent ones. 6 and We shall relate to them with knowledge; assuredly We were not absent. 7 And the weighing will be just on that Day. Then those whose (deeds) are heavier in the balance will find fulfilment, 8 And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their ownselves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
