Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
