The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those of the right hand. 38
