The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
