۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 Said he: "Indeed, you and your forefathers have obviously gone astray!" 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
