And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
