The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 191
