The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
