The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
