The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
