The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
