The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
