Remember when you killed a man and blamed each other for the deed, God brought to light what you concealed. 72 And We said: Smite him with some of it. Thus Allah bringeth the dead to life and showeth you His portents so that ye may understand. 73 Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. 74 ۞ How do you expect them to put their faith in you, when you know that some among them heard the word of God and, having understood, perverted it knowingly? 75 On meeting the believers, they would declare belief but to each other they would say, "How would you (against your own interests) tell them (believers) about what God has revealed to you (in the Bible of the truthfulness of the Prophet Muhammad)? They will present it as evidence to prove you wrong before your Lord. Do you not realize it?" 76 Do they not know that Allah knows what they keep secret and what they make known? 77 Among them are unlettered folk who know the Scripture not except from hearsay. They but guess. 78 Therefore woe be unto those who write the Scripture with their hands and then say, "This is from Allah," that they may purchase a small gain therewith. Woe unto them for that their hands have written, and woe unto them for that they earn thereby. 79 And they (Jews) say, "The Fire (i.e. Hell-fire on the Day of Resurrection) shall not touch us but for a few numbered days." Say (O Muhammad Peace be upon him to them): "Have you taken a covenant from Allah, so that Allah will not break His Covenant? Or is it that you say of Allah what you know not?" 80 Whoever earns evil and becomes engrossed in sin shall be doomed to Hell and abide therein for ever. 81 whereas those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds - they are destined for paradise, therein to abide. 82
