Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
