The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
