Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
