The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
