۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
