And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 “And they have an accusation against me, so I fear that they may kill me.” 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course; 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 Moses said: "Even if I were to bring a Clear Sign to you?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
