The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
