The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
