The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And children present [with him] 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
