The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
