The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
