(Sometimes later), the King dreamt that seven lean cows were eating seven fat ones and that there were seven green ears of corn and seven dry ones. He asked the nobles to tell him the meaning of his dream if they were able to. 43 They said: "A confused medley of dreams: and we are not skilled in the interpretation of dreams." 44 Then the man who was released (one of the two who were in prison), now at length remembered and said: "I will tell you its interpretation, so send me forth." 45 (He said): "O Yusuf (Joseph), the man of truth! Explain to us (the dream) of seven fat cows whom seven lean ones were devouring, and of seven green ears of corn, and (seven) others dry, that I may return to the people, and that they may know." 46 [Joseph] replied: "You shall sow for seven years as usual; but let all [the grain] that you harvest remain [untouched] in its ear, excepting only a little, whereof you may eat: 47 Then thereafter will come seven hard years which will devour that which ye have laid up beforehand for them except a little which ye shall preserve. 48 Then a year will come after that when people will have abundant rain and when once more they will press [wine and oil]." 49
