The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
