The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
