The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
