And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom; 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge, above all beings, 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
