The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
