Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
