The hypocrites seek to trick God, but God is tricking them. When they stand up to pray they stand up lazily, showing off to the people and not remembering God save a little; 142 wavering between (belief and disbelief), neither to these nor to those, and whom Allah leads astray, you will not find a way for him. 143 O believers, do not hold unbelievers as friends in preference to the faithful. Do you want to proffer a clear proof of your own guilt before God? 144 Surely the hypocrites are in the lowest stage of the fire and you shall not find a helper for them. 145 those (hypocrites) who have repented, put their trust in God, and sincerely followed only His religion will live with the believers to whom God will give a great reward. 146 Why should Allah punish you if you have thanked (Him) and have believed in Him. And Allah is Ever All-Appreciative (of good), All-Knowing. 147 ۞ God does not love the utterance of evil words except in the case of someone who has been wronged. God hears all and knows all. 148 If you do good openly or in secret or pardon an evil, surely God is All-pardoning, All-powerful. 149 Those who deny God and His messengers and seek to make a distinction between God and His messengers and say, "We believe in some messengers and disbelieve in others", and desire to adopt a position in between. 150 These are the real disbelievers; and for the disbelievers We have kept prepared a disgraceful punishment. 151 And those who believe in God and His Messengers and make no division between any of them, those -- We shall surely give them their wages; God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. 152
