The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Scorching the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
