The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
