The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
