۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
