He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
