'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
