Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
