The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
