The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
